Start date and deadlines
The start date is when a project begins generating reductions or removals. Carbon Standard v1.1 sets how soon validation must follow it; the Registration and Issuance Procedure sets listing and registration deadlines.
Start date
The start date is the date (DD/MM/YYYY) on which the project began generating net GHG reductions or removals.
Carbon Standard v1.1
| Project | Deadline from the start date |
|---|---|
| Non-AFOLU | Validation within 3 years. Within 4 years if a new CR-I methodology took 2 years to validate. |
| AFOLU | Submit for listing within 5 years, and complete validation within 6 years. |
Registration and Issuance Procedure v1.0
| Project | Listing | Request for registration |
|---|---|---|
| Non-AFOLU | Within 1 year of the start date | Within 2 years of the start date |
| AFOLU | Within 2 years of the start date | Within 5 years of the start date |
Carbon Standard v1.1 lengthened these deadlines. The Registration and Issuance Procedure (2021) still shows the periods from Carbon Standard v1.0. If your timeline depends on the difference, confirm with the Registry at cri.projects@nccf.in. See What’s new in version 1.1.
