Revising a methodology
Listed methodologies and tools are revised through a revision document, 30 days of consultation, one VVB assessment and NCCF approval. Major changes raise the version number; minor and editorial changes add a decimal.
Steps
| Step | Who | What | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | IMD | Prepare the revision document on the template, submit the form and pay the fee | |
| 2 | NCCF | Initial review: accept for consultation, ask for changes or reject | 14 working days |
| 3 | Public | Extended stakeholder consultation; the IMD responds | 30 days |
| 4 | IMD | Appoint an eligible VVB | |
| 5 | VVB | Assess the revision; the report is published after the consultation | |
| 6 | NCCF | Review the assessment | 14 working days |
| 7 | NCCF | Final review and approval | 21 working days |
| 8 | NCCF | List the new version | 5 working days |
If a change alters the methodology’s concept, the full new methodology procedure applies.
Version numbers
| Change | Version |
|---|---|
| Major | Whole number, for example 2.0 to 3.0 |
| Minor | Decimal, for example 2.0 to 2.1 |
| Editorial (wording only) | Decimal, for example 2.1 to 2.2, after NCCF review |
Previous versions may stay listed while projects use them. A revision request can be withdrawn before NCCF decides; the fee is not refunded.
