Renewing a crediting period

Projects with a renewable crediting period can renew it up to twice. Notify NCCF 270 to 90 working days before the current period ends, then a VVB validates the updated design.

ProjectsLast reviewed 23 October 2026

Eligibility

  • The project chose a renewable crediting period.
  • It was implemented and verified at least once during the current crediting period.

Steps

  1. Prepare a revised DPD under the latest Carbon Standard and template.
  2. Notify NCCF of your intention to renew through the online form, with the revised DPD, between 270 and 90 working days before the current period expires.
  3. Appoint a VVB that did not carry out the most recent verification.
  4. The VVB validates the renewal and prepares an RCP Validation Report, within 100 days of its appointment.
  5. Submit the Request for RCP with the revised DPD and RCP-VaR, and pay the fee (INR 20,000).
  6. NCCF reviews within 21 working days and approves, rejects or seeks clarification.

The new crediting period starts the day after the current one ends.

What is updated

The crediting period, methodology version, baseline, estimates, monitoring approach, SDG contribution and, for AFOLU projects, reversal risk and buffer contribution. If the baseline is not updated, the VVB confirms it is still valid.

The fee is not refunded if the request is rejected or withdrawn.
