Methodology deviations
A project may deviate from its methodology only for fixed data, monitored data or the monitoring strategy, and only if the result stays conservative. Deviations are requested through a Methodology Deviation Form.
What can deviate
Deviations from the applied methodology are limited to:
- data and parameters fixed ex-ante
- data and parameters monitored
- the monitoring strategy
A deviation must not reduce conservativeness.
How to request one
Submit a Methodology Deviation Form (MDF) through the Registry during validation or verification.
What a deviation is not
- An approved deviation applies only to that project, once. It is not a precedent for other projects.
- A deviation is not a revision of the methodology. To change a methodology for everyone, see Revising a methodology.
What the VVB checks
The VVB confirms the deviation is within the permitted limits, does not reduce conservativeness, and takes account of any precedent.
