Who does what
CR-I has five kinds of participant: NCCF as the regulator, Independent Project Proponents (IPPs), Validation and Verification Bodies (VVBs), Independent Methodology Developers (IMDs) and Transactional Organisations (TOs).
Participants
| Participant | What they do | Account |
|---|---|---|
| NCCF | Regulator. Designs and manages the Registry, reviews submissions, issues MCUs and oversees VVBs. | Administrator |
| Independent Project Proponent (IPP) | Designs, implements, operates and monitors projects. Prepares project documents, appoints empanelled VVBs, and requests registration and issuance. Must be able to show project ownership. | IPP account |
| Validation and Verification Body (VVB) | Independent third party with valid accreditation and CR-I empanelment. Validates and verifies projects and assesses new methodologies and tools. | VVB account |
| Independent Methodology Developer (IMD) | Designs and develops methodologies and tools for GHG quantification, appoints the first VVB to assess them, and may propose revisions. | IMD account |
| Transactional Organisation (TO) | Buyers, sellers or brokers that are neither IPP nor IMD. Trade, transfer, retire or cancel MCUs. | TO account |
IPPs and IMDs must be independent of NCCF and of VVBs. VVBs must be impartial.
Delegate Entity
When several IPPs share a project, they appoint one Delegate Entity (DE) to coordinate the project and communicate with VVBs and NCCF. See Project ownership and the Delegate Entity.
Getting an account
Every participant needs a Registry account. See Account types or create an account.
